How it works

What working with us looks like

01

We establish the year

Your books are closed and reconciled, and we confirm the figures the return will be built on.

02

We prepare, then review against last year

Compared against the prior year and against what actually changed. Most errors surface there.

03

We file, and tell you what comes next

A plain summary: what was owed, what was paid, and what CRA expects before the next year end.

Who it is for

Is this the right service for you?

Your return arrives to be signed and nobody has explained what is in it.

You find out what you owe at the same time you have to pay it.

Nobody has looked at salary against dividends in years.

You are behind on a filing, or have a CRA letter you have not opened.

You have more than one entity and nothing is looked at across them.

Questions

Questions about Tax Compliance

When is our corporate return actually due?

A T2 is due six months after your fiscal year end. A balance owing, though, is due two or three months after year end depending on the corporation — so the filing deadline and the payment deadline are different dates. That gap is the most common and most expensive surprise in small-business tax, because interest runs from the payment date, not the filing one.

Do we need to be registered for GST/HST?

Registration becomes mandatory once taxable revenue passes the small-supplier threshold over four consecutive calendar quarters, and it is voluntary before that. Registering early is sometimes worth doing anyway, because it lets you claim input tax credits on startup costs — and sometimes it is not worth the filing burden. It depends on what you are buying and who you are selling to.

We are behind on filings. How bad is it?

Fixable, and materially better addressed voluntarily than waited on. Late filing penalties and interest are real but they compound with time and with CRA finding it first rather than you bringing it. Bring us whatever you have, in whatever condition.

We already have an accountant. Is changing firms complicated?

It is a routine process. We request your records from the previous firm and they are accustomed to receiving that request — it is a normal part of professional practice, not a confrontation. What we need from you is the authorisation to ask.
