Working with us

What does Local Ledger actually do?

We are a specialized CPA firm dedicated to the financial health of small and medium enterprises. We provide the essential foundation (bookkeeping, tax compliance, business valuation, management advisory) that allows local founders to lead with confidence. In practice that means we handle the complexities of your ledger so you can stay focused on the growth of your business.

What size of business do you work with?

Small and medium enterprises. That ranges from an owner-operator who has just incorporated to an established company with a payroll to run and a board to report to. If you are not sure whether you are a fit, the introduction call will settle it quickly.

I already have a bookkeeper. Can you still help?

Yes. Bookkeeping is one of six services, and plenty of clients keep their bookkeeper and come to us for tax compliance, management reporting, a valuation, or advisory work. We can also work alongside your bookkeeper and take on only the parts you would rather not own.

Can you take over from my current accountant?

Yes, and it is a routine handover. We request your prior-year filings and working papers from your existing accountant, review what has been filed, and tell you plainly if anything needs attention before we go further. You do not need to have an awkward conversation first — most firms expect the request.

Do we have to meet at your office?

Not at all. Initial consultations, document sharing, and ongoing reviews can easily happen virtually via phone, video call, or our secure digital portal. We adapt to whatever is most convenient for your schedule.

How quickly will I hear back?

We are very prompt in our response time and aim to reply as quickly as possible. If you have an urgent need, skip the form and give us a call directly.

What should I have ready for a first conversation?

You don't need to do any heavy homework! We use our first chat to understand your business goals and current pain points. Having a general idea of your monthly transaction volume, year-end date, and payroll setup helps, and having last year's tax return on hand is a nice bonus — but mostly, we just want to discuss how we can take work off your plate.

How do your fees work?

Our pricing is tailored to your specific business, not based on generic averages. Your fee depends on your unique scope of work — including the services you need, your monthly transaction volume, and whether you require ongoing support or a one-time project.

After our introductory conversation, we will provide a clear, customized quote so you know exactly what to expect.

About the services

What is the difference between bookkeeping and management reporting?

Bookkeeping gives you a reliable rear-view mirror — maintaining precise records of your cash flow, income, and expenses. Management reporting gives you the view through the windshield, using these records to build custom internal reports that help you track business performance, monitor budgets, analyze profit margins, and make informed strategic decisions.

What does "fractional CFO" mean in practice?

As your business grows, relying solely on historical financial reports isn't enough — you need forward-looking advice. Our fractional CFO services give you a strategic partner to build robust cash flow forecasts, evaluate major business opportunities, and advise on complex decisions so you can scale smartly and efficiently.

Don't see your question on the list? Just ask us directly! Send us a quick message or book a brief introductory call. Reaching out carries no obligation — we're always happy to answer your specific questions and discuss how we can help your business.
